Guidelines for Governance
Founder School Membership
Membership to the Nordic Network of English Speaking Schools is restricted to the following 5 permanent member schools:
- Copenhagen International School, Denmark
- International School of Gothenburg Region, Sweden
- Bladins School, Malmø, Sweden
- Oslo International School, Norway
- Stockholm International School, Sweden
Participation at Conferences
Any school may send representatives to the annual Nordic Network Conference provided the appropriate conference fees have been paid.
Founder School Membership Dues and Financial Matters
- Founder schools as described above are required to pay annual fees.
- Founder school membership fees will be determined by the Steering Committee
- Founder school membership fees will not offset the cost of hosting the annual conference. Annual conferences will be financed by conference fees payable by individual conference participants and exhibitors
- Conference fees will be paid by all participants with the exception of:
- Steering Committee members
- Presenters (where there are more than 1 presenter for a presentation, only 1 of the presenters will be admitted to the conference free of charge.
Tax Status
- The Nordic Network of English Speaking schools is a non-profit organisation.
Steering Committee
- The Steering Committee will be self-perpetuating and be composed of 2 members from each of the founder/member schools
- The Chairperson and Vice Chairperson role will rotate depending on which school is hosting the conference. The Chairperson will always be the Director/Head of the school hosting the conference that year, or his/her official representative. The Vice Chairperson will be the Director/Manager of the school hosting the conference the following year, or his/her official representative
- Only members of the Steering Committee are allowed to vote
- The Steering Committee should also consist of a treasurer/secretary within its members.
Hosting the Annual Conference
- This will be on a rota basis where possible. The rota being as follows:
- Gothenburg
- Stockholm
- Oslo
- Copenhagen
- Malmø
- In the event of a school not being able to host a conference, then the next school on the rota will be approached to hold the conference.
Administrator's Conference
- This will be held in November each year
- This will be hosted by the school which held the Annual conference in the April/May of the same year
- Agenda to be set in advance of the conference
- Participation can be extended beyond the member schools by invitation only
- There is no fee for attending this conference
- The cost of hosting the Administrators Conference is the responsibility of the host school.
Steering Committee Meetings
- The Steering Committee will meet at least 3 times per year: Once at the Administrators Conference, once at the Annual Conference and once in early Spring
- The venues for these meeting will be at the school holding the conference that year.
- All costs for Admin and Steering Committee meetings are to be born by the host school with the exception of the annual dinner for the Steering Committee members funded from the Nordic Network.
Attendance at Steering Committee Meetings
In addition to the official representative for each member school, one non-voting member from each member school may attend Steering Committee meetings.
